Childhood Memories of San Francisco's Central Market community as art installation

Dates Thu, 30 Jun 2011 10:41 am

Through the Art in Storefronts program, artist Vanesa Gingold is showing a storefront installation of sculptures and mobiles inspired by interviews and art projects with individuals from the Central Market community of San Francisco.

She asked neighborhood members to recall childhood memories of favorite places and her soft, tunnel-like sculptures reflect the shared sense of safety and comfort.

The project also includes a website featuring the different stories collected from the neighborhood.
